Your Cat’s Predatory Play
Ca
ts are natural predators and often display predatory play behavior. This could range from biting your toes, to chattering at birds through the window. You will never get rid of a cat’s predatory play instincts, but you can redirect that energy into other things.
As you know cats are natural predators. They love to hunt for their food. Hunting, chasing, and attacking come natural to your house cat. Normally this is not a problem, but sometimes these cats can become overly aggressive with their predatory play.
Redirecting Predatory Play
Buying toys to keep your cat active is one way to help them. Toys with feathers on are great, and also toys that move. Anything that a cat can chase is great.
You could also try burying things beneath clothes or newspaper for them to find.
Placing a bird feeder outside the window is another way to let your cat predatory play without having you there to entertain them.
Biting Toes
If your cat is biting your toes, simply providing other means to play and expressive one’s self will solve the problem.
Cats get bored very easily so constantly rotating toys or their environment should stimulate them enough to leave your toes alone.
