Should I Take My Cat To The Vet?

Should I take my cat to the vet?  If you are asking yourself this question, then you probably should.  Here are some signs to watch out for to help you to determine if you should take your cat to the vet….

Not Eating

If your cat has gone 2 days without eating it needs to see a vet.  Most of the time if it is just a simple upset stomach it should be cured in one day.  A cat not eating for two days needs to see a vet.

Vomiting

If your cat is vomiting every day or multiple times in a day it needs to see a vet.  Vomiting up an occasional hairball is normal, but if it is more frequent then you need to see a vet.

Trouble Breathing

If your cat is wheezing or looks like it is trying to catch its breath it needs to see a vet right away.  Your cat could be having an asthma attack.

Diarrhea

If your cat is otherwise healthy, a little diarrhea for longer then 4 days should see a vet.  Diarrhea can be caused by an upset stomach or stress.  Try to feed your cat a bland diet for a few days to see if the diarrhea stops.

Increased drinking or urination

If your cat is drinking more water or has increased urination then it could have diabetes or kidney problems.  Either way your cat should see a vet this week.

Summary

Basically if you are questioning whether or not to take your cat to the vet, you should take your cat to the vet.
