How To Stop Your Cat From Biting You
Many people often complain to me that they have cats that try and bite them every once in a while, or that they have their cat trying to bite their toes or when the cat tries to bite them while petting.
There could be several reasons for this behavior. First of all if your cat is a rescue that did not have a lot of time to play with other kittens, it did not learn to guard its teeth during play, so therefore when they do play they use their teeth, and are not aware that they may be hurting you.
Second, some cats that do not have enough exercise or entertainment often redirect their energies into activities like biting and scratching. Sometimes just getting your cat to play with a ball 15 minutes a day can really tire them out.
Third, some cats misbehave because they actually have a medical problem. Although this is not very common, it does happen, and you should have your cat checked out by a vet, if you believe this could be a possible cause.
If your cat is biting you try to give it more exercise and more toys to play with. If your cat does bite you, immediately redirect its behavior into a more appropriate activity. Also check out Problem Cat Behaviors.
