Get Cat Urine Out of a Mattress Easily
Did your cat go on the bed? This can be a very frustrating situation for you, one that you might have been dealing with for a while. While your first thought might be to get mad, you need to get working on removing cat urine from your mattress quickly.
The quicker you try to remove the urine, the less that will be absorbed into the mattress. If you have a carpet shampooer or even a wet-dry vac this would work great, but if you don’t, don’t worry.
Get started by trying to absorb as much of the urine as possible with a towel. It is important to put as much pressure as possible on the towel, because most of the urine is down in the mattress at this point and that is what we have to work at removing if we want the smell to ever go away.
Once you cannot soak up any more urine from the mattress, now try to get rid of any odor. There are lots of cat odor eliminators out there that you can buy, but if you don’t have one of them, try one of these options.
White Vinegar
The first thing you can try is white vinegar, either straight or diluted with water. Let it soak into the mattress where the urine was for a few minutes. Then try to absorb as much as possible with a towel again. Then rub some baking soda over the area and vacuum it up. It might smell like vinegar, but it beats the alternative.
Hydrogen Peroxide
The second option to try is to mix a past of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Just rub it into the mattress with a rag or brush and clean up the rest.
Carpet Shampoo
One last thing to try is to just use carpet shampoo or a carpet deodorizer. These can work as well to help remove the odor.
Remember, it is important to remove as much of the urine odor as possible because this will help prevent the cat from going in the same spot again.
