7 Tips For Well Behaved Cats
Cats always seem to be up to something. While they do sleep most of the time, when they are active they can raise hell if they want to. Here are 7 tips to keep your cat well behaved.
1. Set your boundaries and keep them firm. If you don’t want your cats on the counter then never let them on it, not even for a minute. Cats are like children, they love to always test boundaries.
2. As soon as you see a behavior problem starting, take steps to correct it right away. The longer you leave a problem linger, the harder it is to correct it.
3. Make sure everyone in the house treats the cat the same. If one person lets the cat on the counter when you are gone then the cat is getting mixed messages.
4. Never punish your cat after the fact. Cats don’t have a long term memory so they cannot associate the punishment with the crime.
5. Play with your cat often and give them lots of exercise. Cats that are busy playing have less time to get into trouble.
6. Certain behavior problems can be caused medical problems. Always have our cat examined by a vet on a regular basis.
7. Take some time to observe your cat everyday. If you know your cat’s normal behavior then you can more quickly and easily spot an abnormal behavior.
Well behaved cats don’t just happen, you have to train them, show them love and set firm boundaries.
